In the Sound of Silence: My Psalm to the Lord

God, gift me love and rest.

I seek to please your will.

I beg to hear your voice.

I stir impatiently to know and see your plan.

Yet, you respond with the sound of silence.

I cry out saying,

My God, where are you?

Show me the purpose in this pain.

Still, you response with the sound of silence.

Until, I am alone, broken, and humbled.

When there are no more words for me to say.

Your silence begins to fill my heart.

I am overwhelmed with love and the weight of wait melts away.

God, it is in the sound of silence that I find rest.

When I've stopped fighting your plan,

I can suddenly see the answers.

When my heart is no longer resistant,

I find myself healed by your love.

God, I still wonder why.

I still do not understand your holy plan.

But this time, I will wait patiently at your feet.

I will finally find enjoyment in the sound of silence.

The sound echoes no expectation.

No tasks or loud "do more" is on your lips.

Instead, you are gifting me rest.

And your steadfast love overcomes my soul.

God, my refuge and fortress,

I will no longer come to you demanding answers.

No. Instead, I will humbly take my rightful place,

And I will bow at your feet in worship of my holy and righteous savior.

In the sound of silence, you show up.

In the stillness, you provide healing.

On your plan, all things work according to your good.

God, I surrender to the sound of silence, the stillness, and your will.

God, gift my love and rest.
