The Story of the Tattoo

Updated: Jun 10, 2018

My tattoo. This tattoo has so much meaning to me. I feel like one day I will want to look back on this and remember everything this tattoo meant to me.

So all my friends came down to celebrate my wedding. We had my bridal shower on Tuesday, and my bachelorette party on Wednesday.

So these beautiful girls were all prepared to get dressed up for a fancy dinner and a spa night at home talking all night like the good old days.

Then we got an idea…What if we all went and got tattoos? Now those of you who know me know that I am NOT one to make quick decisions about something so big. This was not like me to go along with something like this…But I thought that is what bachelorette parties are all about! So we called googled a tattoo place near us that wasn’t too expensive…looking back we should have done some research about the quality, but no time for that.

We felt lame getting a tattoo at three in the afternoon, so we spent the day doing last minute wedding things and talking about anything and everything.

When 7:00 finally came around we packed up and headed to Platinum Ink. We get there all pumped, made fun of every dumb tattoo example we saw and then it was time. I was first.

Now I knew exactly what I wanted to get. Ever since I was young, I have always loved the 1 Corinthians 13 verse (love is patient love is kind…). It is a beautiful description of love. I believe in love. I also believe love is not a feeling. It does not fade with time, instead it is a challenge to find new ways to love everyday. I cannot believe when I hear “well we fell out of love.” Saying that is saying that you decided not to be patient or kind to that person. Jacob and I went into marriage with a belief that with God’s Love our marriage will last. God’s Love will never fail us. Love never fails…

What a better time to remind myself of the importance of love than the day before I marry the man of my dreams!!

Continuing with my story…It is my turn and we are taken to our room by Kyle our tattoo artist (who we find out won a tattoo reality show…so we got lucky with the quality thing). I was so shocked about how painful the tattoo was (Apparently the foot is one of the most painful places to get a tattoo…now I know).

Taylor and Erin were the cheerleaders for the night while Lana, Micaela, and I got tatted up:)

This tattoo means so much to me, and I’m so glad I got to share this experience and my wedding day with these amazing girls!!

(This was us copying the Bridesmaids movie cover)Every time I look at my tattoo I am reminded of the amazing gift that God has given me. He has given me the opportunity to find a new way to love my husband every day of our lives. He has given me the challenge to never “fall out of love.” I wouldn’t want to have it any other way.
